about us
Celebrating 47 years, the award winning Buckhorn Festival of the Arts has a time-honoured reputation for curating a gallery-quality fine art festival that appeals to a broad range of art enthusiasts and collectors. The Buckhorn Festival of the Arts is an weekend long annual event that celebrates art, local cuisine and musical talent.
The Festival is proud to showcase an Amateur Art Competition, Youth Art Display and an interactive Art Activity Zone for all participating Festival patrons to enjoy. The intent of the Art Activity Zone is to nurture artistic creativity by providing a variety of interactive art activities for children and adults to freely explore and experience an expression of their limitless imaginations.
Our Mission is to connect the community and the Buckhorn Community Centre (BCC) by creating and implementing an inclusive, sustainable cultural event.
Our Vision is to be the defining cultural event of the community. In keeping with our Mission and Vision, we have changed the Festival name from the Buckhorn Art Festival to the Buckhorn Festival of the Arts. This new moniker allows us to explore and include more diverse and contemporary expressions of art, mediums and genres.
The Buckhorn Festival of the Arts has been the major fundraiser for the Buckhorn Community Centre (BCC); an independently-owned not-for-profit, charitable organization and the hub of cultural and recreational programs for families living and vacationing in the area. With the help of over 300 dedicated volunteers, the Festival provides a venue for visitors to participate in a world class art experience.

2024 Festival of the Arts Entertainment

To Be Announced

The concept behind the annual ART ACTIVITY ZONE is to nurture artistic creativity by providing a variety of interactive art activities for children and adults in a place where one can freely explore, experience and use one’s imagination while drawing inspiration from nature.

Self-directed activities are expressed by “studios” for painting, drawing, collage and manipulatives.
The ART ACTIVITY ZONE also provides a cool resting area and a location for drying work and display.

Months of planning and hours of hard work go into making the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival the success that it is. The Art Activity Zone is successful thanks to the dedication of the volunteers that embrace the concept and work in the area throughout the BFOTA weekend.

Our ART ACTIVITY ZONE is sponsored in part by Crayola Canada.
